After a first initial chat over the phone we will meet you for your 1st lesson at your chosen pick up area. This can be either from home or work, or wherever is convenient for you.
You will need to bring along to your 1st driving lesson your provisional driving licence. If you wear glasses, please bring these with you too. We shall be carrying out an eyesight test on this 1st lesson. You will be driving so wear something comfortable and sensible footwear.
If you wish to be dropped off at a different location from the pick up, that’s fine just please give me plenty of notice!
Provisional Licence
Before you can legally drive in the UK you will need a Provisional Licence you must be:
- aged 17 years old or over
- 16 years old if on higher rate mobility
How to apply
You can apply online through the official DVLA website or by post.
Form D1 can be obtained from your local Post Office
There are two parts to this test which must be passed at the same time.
Multiple Choice Questions
50 Questions asked within 57 minutes. The pass mark is 43 correct answers from the 50 questions
Hazard Perception Test
14 video clips with 15 developing hazards. You will be marked for every hazard you spot
The pass mark is 44 marks from a possible 75.
The practical test will last approximately 40 minutes which will include:
- An eyesight test
- 2 vehicle safety questions
- 10 minutes of independent driving where you will be asked to follow a series of directions or follow road signs. You will not be failed if you go the wrong way!
- 1 reversing manoeuvre
You will be expected to drive safely and have good knowledge of the Highway Code.
You can make up to 15 driving errors and still pass. 16 driving errors or any serious or dangerous will mean that you have been unsuccessful.
When you pass you will receive a Pass Certificate from the Examiner and your new Full Driving Licence will be sent to you in the post!
